The trend of making sumptuous and easy to create sandwiches has really gone a long way especially with the creation of the Panini. Though a lot of people already had their share of this sandwich, there are still some that do not actually know just what a Panini really is.

So what is a panini? Basically, a panini is a grilled sandwich filled with cheese or cured meats. Like any other sandwich, the panini is considered a working class sandwich that one can conveniently have anytime, anywhere. Contrary to what most people believe, there is actually no general rule whether panini is cooked, or let alone grilled, although they are popularly known and served grilled. Today, we see quite a lot of expensive cheese filled sandwiches, grilled hot and very flavourful, thinking that they are done from top of the line grills. However, did you know that you can actually create sumptuous panini sandwiches right at your very own grill?

The secret towards having a perfect panini sandwich does not only revolve around having a state of the art grill. The secret is in the bread and the ingredients. Preferably, you need to have the best! Ideally, Ciabatta and Foccacia breads are great for making panini sandwiches. You can also use bread that is rich in herbs, or any other types of bread that are flavourful, heavy, and dense enough to hold together and grill evenly.

Another consideration is the meat. Commonly, panini sandwiches are made with varied cured meats such as prosciutto, pepperoni, or salami. Go for those that are thinly sliced so you don’t have to fully cook the meat on the grill.

When it comes to making great sandwiches that are easy to create and yummy to the palate, panini sandwiches are definitely it.
